SAVE Students Network (SAVESNet)

Every student has the right to be educated in an environment free of violence and intimidation. The SAVE Students Network (SAVESNet) was created to address the need to train and empower students to foster a safe, respectful and peaceful school and more optimal environment for learning. The goal of SAVESNet is to develop the Protective Factors in children that assist them in lessening the risk of being a victim or perpetrator of violence. A full time coordinator guides the students in specialized learning opportunities to develop their leadership and violence prevention skills and knowledge.

The SAVE Students Network uses 5 Protective Factor Building Strategies to implement the program:

  • Leadership Development - REAL TALK BOOK
  • Prevention Education
  • Community Service
  • Positive Peer Group Building
  • Mentoring

SAVESNet began in 2000 and currently serves student members in two Columbus City Schools.   Both the students that attend these schools and the communities surrounding them have many risk factors such as: high levels of poverty, low income levels, low educational levels and high crime rates.
