Who Are We?
- Founded in 1994
- 501(c ) 3 nonprofit
- 4 full time staff, 5 part time staff, 10 Board members
- Sole mission is aimed at preventing youth violence
- Serve youth in Grades 3-12 or ages 9-17
- 3 programs are considered prevention and are aimed at reducing
risk factors and increasing protective factors for youth violence in
the individuals we serve
- Budget $380,000 (2008)
- Types of violence that are SAVE’s focus:
- Youth on Youth
- School Violence
- Juvenile Delinquency
- Bullying
- Dating Violence
- Sexual Harassment
- Threats and Intimidation
- Safety
- Youth served in 2007-08 school year:
- 200 youth participated in SAVESNet
- 250 youth and adults trained by MVEP
- 100 youth presented in the SAVE Awards
- 95% urban African-American youth were served
- 3-5 grades – 40%, 6-8 grades – 26%, 9-12 grades 34%
Who We Are Not
- Providers of counseling or treatment services.
- An organization focused upon: gang violence, gun violence, child abuse and
neglect, family or domestic violence.
- Affiliated with nor endorse any particular faith or religion.
